Les Stroud-Off the grid 3/7

shop.lesstroud.ca In 2006, Stroud produced a 90-minute special documenting his family’s journey to building an off-the-grid home. The show, Off the Grid with Les Stroud, chronicled the process of buying property and refitting an old farm house with solar and wind power, a raincatcher and well, as well as the adjustments the Stroud family had to make to adapt to this style of living.

Dual Survival – Shipwrecked (part 2)

VIDEO PLAYLIST www.youtube.com In this survival scenario, hosts Cody and Dave find themselves on a deserted island off the coast of Nova Scotia — in the dead of winter with plummeting temperatures. Despite the freezing temperatures — and his partner’s objections — Cody doesn’t give in on his indigenous survival strategy, where he lives his life barefoot. Here, he’s only wearing shorts and wool socks. The only items they have are those they’re able to salvage from the life raft they used to reach the island: an emergency Mylar blanket, a plastic tarp, two knives and a single rescue flare. They must use these items and their arsenal of skills to find shelter, build a fire and find food and water, all in sub-zero conditions. Les Stroud-Winter in Ontario 3/5

shop.lesstroud.ca In 2001 Stroud produced two one-hour specials for the science news show @discovery.ca. These segments follow the same format as Survivorman with Stroud filming his own survival in the wilderness. They were originally broadcast as daily segments over the course of one week but were repackaged as two one-hour specials titled Stranded.[2] The popularity of these pilots spawned the show Survivorman. Stroud teamed up with producer Dave Brady to produce 10 episodes of the show which began airing in 2004.[2]

Dual Survival – Swamped (part 1)

VIDEO PLAYLIST www.youtube.com Cody and Dave head to the heart of the Louisiana bayou to take on a potentially deadly scenario: lost in a 1000 square mile labyrinth of water channels and bogs, home to 1.5 million alligators and six species of poisonous snakes — including water moccasins. To make it out, the two-man team are equipped only with what a lost boater might have, including a knife, flashlight, backpack, cords and the most valuable asset of all — the boat itself. In a swamp filled with predators, the vessel will create a vital barrier during the escape. But without enough gasoline to run the motor, Dave and Cody must improvise.
